Marimekko

Growing up in Finland, I never thought of Marimekko as a fashionable or trendy brand and it's interesting to see how the brand is growing in popularity in the fashion industry. It's especially on people's lips right now because it was nominated for Zalando sustainability award and got to the finals against House of Dagmar. Although House of Dagmar won, Marimekko presented a beautiful film for the digital Copenhagen Fashion week now in the beginning of February. They showed some archived prints that especially us Finns recognise.

Marimekko also recently announced their new Creative Director, the Danish Rebekka Bay. She admires to be able to work for a brand with such a strong archive of prints with such big heritage. You can really tell on the communication strategies that the creative direction has changed from what it was before. Personally I think it's great that there is a Danish creative director to give new energy to the old Finnish brand to lift its notoriety and youthfulness.

Here is the link for the cool video they presented at the Digital Copenhagen Fashion Week. Check it out!

Bisous,

Anna
